Fall brings crisp air, crunchy leaves, and cozy vibes. It also brings a few seasonal hazards that dog parents should keep in mind. At Camp Ruff It, we love fall playtime with our campers, but we are always watching for safety first.
Seasonal Hazards for Dogs
Moldy Leaves – Piles of wet leaves can grow mold and bacteria that cause stomach upset.
Acorns and Nuts – Tempting to chew, but toxic in large amounts.
Pumpkin Spice Everything – Pure pumpkin is great for dogs, but avoid sugary lattes, pies, and baked goods.
Decorations – Candles, potpourri, and cords can be dangerous if chewed or knocked over.
Safe Fall Foods for Dogs
Fresh pumpkin or canned (plain, unsweetened)
Apples (no seeds or core)
Carrots and green beans for healthy crunch
Lean turkey and chicken (plain, no seasoning)
Fun Fall Enrichment Ideas
Pumpkin Patch Play: Hide treats in a pile of safe pumpkins for sniff and seek.
Leaf Chase: A supervised romp through clean, dry leaves is dog heaven.
DIY Pumpkin Treats: Bake simple dog biscuits with pumpkin, oat flour, and peanut butter.
Cooler Weather Means More Playtime
With temperatures dropping, dogs often have more energy for play. At Camp Ruff It, fall is one of our favorite seasons for outdoor fun. We can run, chase, and wrestle without the summer heat slowing us down.
This fall, keep your dog safe while letting them enjoy the season to the fullest. And remember, at Camp Ruff It, every day is a chance for tail-wagging adventure no matter the weather.
