Keep Your Pup Safe this Summer

Summer is officially here which means it's time to start thinking about keeping your pups cool when the temps are hot.

ASPCA has got you covered when it comes to pet safety tips, we thought we'd pull our favorites from their Hot Weather Safety Tips | ASPCA to make sure you're ready for the next Heat Wave!

• Visit the Vet for a summer check-up! Just like you need to make sure to get a regular physical when you're feeling good, your dog needs one too. Make sure your pet is up to date on all vaccinations and medications, especially if you have a vacation planned.

• Learn the symptoms of overheating in pets. There are a lot of different ways a pet might show that they're overheated and dehydrated. From excessive panting and drooling to seizures and vomiting, it's important to watch your dog closely if they're outside in the heat.

• Be aware of what's in your yard. If you're gardening, using herbicides or insecticides, or even lighting citronella candles on your patio, make sure you understand all of the elements of what you choose to bring into your pet's world. Check to make sure they aren't harmful to your furry friends.
