Should You Change Your Dog's Name When You Adopt?
Updated: Sep 9

Naming your pup might not be as easy as you think... if that puppy already has a name! But what do you do if you hate it?
Most of us weren't there when our dogs were born. Maybe you were and you got to name the puppies and you knew that little one was destined to be 'Rover,' or 'Kevin,' but chances are you adopted your best furry friend after it already had a first name.
So what do you do? Keep that name... even if you adopted a dog named Simba and you know in your heart that's a lion's name? Or do you change it.
If you changed your pup's name once it entered your home, you have company! So much company, we all do it, even if it's a little tricky for your dog to remember what name they're going by for a few weeks.
We asked you on the Camp Ruff It Facebook page, 'Did your dog name a name before you named it?'
These are some of our favorite renames!
Ginger Spice --> Zoe
Dudley --> Cooper
Oreo --> Johnny Rocket
Cupcake --> Winter
Ernie --> Teddy
Cappuccino --> Bandit
Kelly --> Grey
Lady --> Sadie
Seven --> Sophie
Darla --> Scout
